Loving you was Red.

But your direction sent me to Elderbrook, too.

The sunsets on the beach watch over you.
Breathing underwater

Isn't hard I tried
Deep inside to find you

Breathing for the life.

There is no way back.

This piece stretched me as much as Martin’s piece led me to find sweat and Lenny’s Piece led me into deeper bass.

This was the piece that taught me that I could hold new skins and ebb into Old Master movements pushed brush against grains in my canvas. It taught me to take new chances with tones it taught me to let live a new risk where acid, dyes, paints, pastels, inks and fire led to new textures to bring in new lustre.

I now feel the need to own pearl earrings like Vermeer let light in. Hieronymus Bosch boldly tied beauty and brawls together and my piece is a fight club. It was my red room. Fight club in a pastel century.

Painted with David Attenborough on a flooded wide screen in the background.

Holding on to the daily good of her rituals I silenced the screaming of surreal and herded the mystery to enrich ethereal instead.

Wall textures, paper textures, organic influences, layers and layers of drying in between.
Every layer got more risky and I threw away countless pieces from fear and panic but this piece was where I accepted I couldn’t, and wouldn’t, find my first stride in 1.

You told me, “Go Where Your Art Takes You.” and I’m hoping this takes you to a sunny cobblestoned street with a cool gelato cone as company or a quiet library with a good book in hand. I’m hoping it keeps you held in the quieter mornings when you calibrate with coffee, and calms you on the mornings you’re racing for the door. This piece has been sprayed with a finish that would probably survive a spill but has also been painted in a way that if you decided to fling an espresso at it, it’ll land right.
(Pacamara beans only please!)

Girl Breathing Underwater is how I’ve tried to condense a woman whose effervescence and mental agility has allowed her to fight in large leagues for better.

Girl Breathing Underwater has taught me how to dive deeper into the human condition and find whole worlds in grains of sand.
